J2SE 5.0 Name and Version Change

The Sun explanation of the new Java products'naming.
  • No more 1.5.0 forget the leading "1." now it's 5.0
  • Forget the 2 in J2SDK now it's simply JSDK and J2RE becomes JRE.
  • But It seems JEE did not replace J2EE, nor J2SE...

    Note 1.5.0 is still used in some places:
    "Where Is Version 1.5.0 Still Used?" in the page you reference.

    Note also, JDK is back (as a replacement to SDK). And the JRE is a subset of the JDK. See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/images/j2se5.gif-Alexis MP
