Tired of typing Ctrl+F to look at a word in an html page in firefox?

in google reader for example, shortcuts with only one cahracter works fine (n,p) but not shortcuts with 2 characters (gs, ga) ...
There is '/' too, to do quick search ... Vi style ;-)
I have email password containing '/' whenever i want to type my password it opens a quick search.
Could you let me know how to prevent the quick search?
